Garbage

9/8 SAL Blog Challenge...What is in your garbage...

um.......paper plates, junk mail, broken toys or toys the kids left out for orally fixated puppies to find, food that is too big to go down the garbage disposal. I guess that is a typical bag of trash for me. I would say the #1 would be the junk mail. I have been trying really hard to reduce clutter, so I sort through my mail every day when I get it and trash the stuff that would otherwise occupy a spot on my dining room table for days.

Crazy little thing called love

Hey all...another SAL blog challenge. This time...what was an idiotic thing you did for love...

Well....I suppose most things I have done in my life that weren't exactly the smartest thing was for love. But if I had to choose just one...probably moving out of my home my senior year in college to live with my (now) DH. He didn't have a job...I had just lost mine 2 days after we moved in...I was a full time college student (commuting 30 minutes one way to school). We had one car. No phone. No computer. We pooled all our money and bought cooking supplies and other household objects from Dollar General and off we went! We lived in an upstairs, one-bedroom, furnished apartment for $55/week (including utilities). The furniture was hideous, the gas light kept blowing out...there was no air conditioning, but it was our home...our freedom from oppressive parents. LOL I recently went back to see our apartment. I took some pictures, so I see a layout in my near future. Obviously we didn't have a camera back then, so we only have maybe one picture and I have NO idea where that even came from. We lived on macaroni and cheese most nights for dinner and shopped at my grandparent's house for groceries! We didn't even have enough money for a checking account, so to pay bills, I would give my Grandma cash and she would write out checks to pay our bills. I even went home to do laundry. OK...so maybe we weren't as "independent" as we thought. But I just knew when I graduated from college with a social work degree I was headed for the big times. Yep...that first year we made $16,000.00 combined. We were rolling in the dough! ROFL

As I said, I have probably done some pretty dumb things in the name of love, but this was probably the dumbest thing. If you asked anyone if they thought it would ever work out...they would just laugh and roll their eyes. But this year Shane and I will have been married 15 years and have 2 beautiful children. Our home is much larger than the first apartment and I would like to say we have substantially increased our combined income. So I guess sometimes it pays to do something idiotic in the name of love...although I REALLY do not care for macaroni and cheese too much!

Change

Ok...another SAL blog challenge. This one is to blog about one thing we would change if we could go back in time. Wow...where to start! LOL But I think the one thing that would have made my life so much easier is if I had been more physically active growing up. I mean, I was thin up until college, but I was really never completely immersed in a fit lifestyle. If I could go back and change it, I would totally be more healthy. I think it would have made my life so much easier because I would have more energy and wouldn't constantly be battling the weight-game. But...since I didn't...I guess what I really need to do it take charge of my life and get on the fitness train NOW. Shane recently had acupuncture and he is doing really well with his weight loss/diet - more than I ever thought he would. He is losing weight and eating better. I am so proud of him. So I am trying to do better as well and really get out there and exercise...yep...the dreaded E word! LOL Wish me luck!!! I am off to an awesome retreat in October and I hope to have at least dropped a pants size by then.
