Sketches in Thyme

Yep...more Mexico pictures...but I SWEAR I am almost done with the album!! (I'll post a picture when I am finally done...and probably scream Hallelujah!!)

Here is a picture that was taken of Shane and I while we were there.  I really love the picture and turned it black and white...which worked perfectly for one of the challenges at A Cherry On Top that the Guest Designer had us do.  I used the sketch from Sketches in Thyme and I am really happy with the way things turned out.

And here is another fun thing I am excited about.  I kept a lot of "stuff" from the trip (the hair beads, sand, etc).  Well, I kept the Mexican newspaper that our souvenirs were wrapped in and for this layout, I die cut the flowers from the newspaper and used them for this layout!  OK, having a small scrapbook-geek-out!  :)

BuBunny Sketch challenge

Let me tell you, I LOVE a sketch challenge and this one from BoBunny really inspired me because it left so much room for interpretation.  I had so many beautiful sunset pictures from the last time we went to the Keys and I wanted to somehow incorporate them ALL into my layout.  This sketch, along with the awesome papers and embellishments gave me the perfect opportunity!     So here is what I came up with...

Monster's Inc

One of our "Must See" attractions at WDW is the Laugh Floor.  More times than not Shane gets picked to be "That Guy" and we all have a good laugh.  Bailee has been chosen as well.  Me...not so far.  Guess I need a Mickey hat or something to stand out.  :) 

Speaking of standing out, I really wanted to scrap my Laugh Floor pictures, but all I had was some really cool paper and these really tiny Monster's Inc. stickers which did not go, so while waiting on my son to get home from a football game, I got on my Pazzle and designed this title and Mike W.  What do you think?  I think he turned out pretty good.  Not bad for being sleep deprived anyway.  :)

I used Sketch 458 from Scrapbook Challenges and flipped it a bit.

And this is what I came up with...

 

Funny story with the Mickey head.  I always put a "hidden mickey" on all my Disney pages (something to look for if you look around my other blog posts).  Well, I wasn't sure if I wanted Mike's eye to be the cardstock one that I had designed or if I wanted the google eye.  In the end, I went with the cardstock and had the google eye left over.  When I put the Mickey head on the layout, the google eye was the perfect size and just seemed appropriate.  What do you think?

Mexican souvenir

I am almost finished with my 2010 Mexico album and I am SO EXCITED to call is complete!!  (It is 2015 after all!!).  This page was especially fun because...and I know only a SCRAPPER can really understand this...my daughter had her hair braided and I KEPT the beads from her hair and they are now the centers to the flowers on the layout.  #scrapnerd

Today I am responding a variety of challenges all wrapped into one.  Brandy, a wonderful scrapper and fellow ACOT member issued a fashion challenge.  The theme...Disney inspired outfits.  Of course that immediately caught my attention.  Brandy also designs for Sketches in Thyme and asked us to incorporate this sketch into our design:

Let's Capture Our Memories - LCOM127

A new month and new sketches!!  I was so inspired by this sketch at Let's Capture Our Memories:

I used it to get some of my puppy pictures scrapped!  I can't believe our babies are 7 months old now.  They were so little and cute back then.  Now they are HUGE (but still cute, of course!).  Time to get cracking on that puppy book!!  So here's a start...

Another Flashback Friday

Scrapbook Challenges has a wonderful sketch this week for Flashback Friday:

When I saw it, I knew this was the perfect sketch for my Florida pictures.  There are so many iguanas down there that I found myself obsessed with taking pictures of them!!

This was also a perfect opportunity to dive into my older stash and mix it up a bit!  Always good to thin the pile before you restock, right?

Birthday Burger

When Logan turned 13, he didn't want a birthday party...he wanted to go to Bagger Dave's and build the "perfect" hamburger.  So that is just what we did!!

To highlight his accomplishment, I used this sketch from Sketch N Scrap:

 

For the design, I dug DEEP into my stash for some older Teresa Collins recipe papers and mixed some old embellishments with some new.  I was especially pleased with the clock from Um Wow. 

 

So here is what I came up with...

Super Hero Sketches!

Hello All!  Today I wanted to show you a layout I did with a sketch from My Creative Sketches: (by the way, I am in LOVE with their kits, even if I didn't use it on this particular layout)...

 

When I saw this sketch that included the stars, the comic-geek in me knew I needed to work on my Universal album and get our super hero pictures scrapped!!  I obviously added one picture to the sketch, but I have to say, I am happy with the way it turned out.  I used some specialty papers and some OLD Rusty Pickle (I miss that company!!)  So here it is...(do you "get" my title??)

Scrapbook challenges

I loved this sketch at Scrapbook Challenges



I immediately thought about my shopping trip this past January in Key West with my daughter.  We went in to the Coach store to drool and came out with quite the haul!  The sale flyer is on the layout, but the entire store was 50% off and if you bought a clearance bag, it was an ADDITIONAL 40% off the sale price.  SCORE!!!!!!  Even better...my daughter and I got to purchase our first Coach bags together.  Mother-daughter bonding at its finest!!

I used my Pazzle to cut out all these handbags and I have to say...I really like them!  Sometimes what I picture in my head doesn't translate to paper...but this time I think it actually did!  Winning! :)

Catching up on school photos with The Memory Nest

I have so many unfinished albums that sometimes I feel like I have ADD when I am scrapping and trying to get them done.  I go from Disney to...SQUIRREL...to school to... You get the picture! :)

So for TODAY, I am working on school albums.  I wanted to get all of Bailee's school albums done BEFORE graduation, but since she has been out of high school a YEAR now, I suppose I should get a move on!
